Following one of the largest endorsement efforts in the organization’s history, SAVE today announced a new slate of endorsed candidates for the 2026 election cycle, backing leaders across federal, state, county, municipal, and school board races who are committed to advancing equality and defending civil rights.
Over the past two weeks, more than 30 SAVE volunteers participated in 19 endorsement panels, conducting more than 33 hours of candidate interviews and deliberations. Candidates completed a rigorous review process that included written questionnaires, community panel interviews, and final consideration by SAVE’s Endorsement Committee and Board of Directors.

I’m grateful to once again earn SAVE’s endorsement and look forward to continuing our partnership to protect equality and deliver results for our community.”
“This endorsement means everything to me,” said Richard Lamondin. “I have watched people in this community build lives, build families, build businesses from nothing. And for too long we have seen this state systematically attack their basic dignity, telling them that because of who they are or who they love, they deserve less. It enrages me. When I win, this community is going to have a senator who fights for them every single day, not just when the cameras are on, and the election is close.”
“I’ve spent more than three decades in education, including 10 years as a teacher and more than two decades as a professor preparing future educators, because I believe every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and valued,” said Dr. Sharry Kimmel, candidate for Broward County School Board District 4. “I’m deeply honored to earn SAVE’s endorsement, and if elected, I’ll bring that same lifelong commitment to the Broward County School Board.”
“I’ve dedicated my career to helping young people realize their potential because every person deserves the opportunity to succeed,” said Paul Wilson, candidate for Miami Gardens Residential Area Seat 2. “I’m proud to earn SAVE’s endorsement, and I’ll bring that same commitment to City Hall by building a Miami Gardens where every resident is treated with dignity, every voice is valued, and every family can build a brighter future.”
“SAVE’s endorsement means so much because it comes from a community I’ve spent years standing beside,” said Angel Burgos, candidate for Wilton Manors City Commission. “Whether supporting local organizations, advocating for equality, or strengthening the institutions that make Wilton Manors special, I’ve always believed our city can set the standard for what inclusion looks like. As Commissioner, I’ll work every day to ensure Wilton Manors continues leading by example.”
Unlike many political endorsements, SAVE’s recommendations are developed through a community-driven process in which volunteer panelists review candidates’ records, questionnaires, interviews, and demonstrated commitment to equality before making recommendations to the organization’s Endorsement Committee
and Board of Directors.
“SAVE is moving into this next phase with real organizing capacity behind our endorsements,” said Miles Davis, SAVE’s Director of Advocacy & Communications. “Our organizers are already on the ground, additional field staff are coming online, and our work is shifting from candidate interviews to voter engagement. Between now and the August 18 Primary, SAVE is working toward knocking more than 11,000 doors across South Florida because our endorsements don’t end with an announcement. They become direct conversations with voters in the communities where these races will be decided.”
SAVE will continue announcing endorsements throughout the 2026 election cycle as additional races complete the organization’s endorsement process. Through voter education, grassroots organizing, volunteer engagement, and one of South Florida’s most active LGBTQ-focused field programs, SAVE will continue mobilizing voters to elect pro-equality leaders at every level of the ballot.
