My Vision for Wilton Manors
Yes, this is the policy section. But stay with us — because these aren’t generic talking points borrowed from some other candidate in some other city. Every one of these priorities was shaped by what residents of Wilton Manors are actually feeling right now. The pride. The frustration. The sense that this city is capable of so much more than it’s been willing to reach for.
01
Grow the Business Base — Ease the Tax Burden
Property taxes rose 10% in a single year. Wilton Manors has lost more than 10% of its population since 2000, while Broward County grew by nearly 20%. The answer isn’t to keep squeezing residents — it’s to grow the commercial tax base. Angel will support the hiring of a dedicated Business Development Director whose entire job is making it easier, faster, and less costly to open and run a business here. When businesses thrive, residents don’t carry all the costs alone.
02
Get Wilton Manors Building Again
Drive through any neighboring city, and you’ll see new energy, new construction, new life. Then drive through Wilton Manors. Since 2013, this city has seen exactly one major building project break ground. The excuses are familiar — but those same hurdles exist everywhere else, and everywhere else is building. Angel will work directly with city staff to cut through the obstacles and get this city moving again. Wilton Manors residents are tired of watching the streets around them fill with new neighbors while their city stands still. So is Angel.
03
Give Every Neighborhood a Voice
Wilton Manors already has four neighborhood associations — Three Bridges, the East Neighborhood Association, the Central Area Neighborhood Association, and the Westside Association. Four associations. Four commission seats. The neighborhoods have already organized themselves and built their own leadership. What they don’t yet have is a commissioner directly accountable to them. Angel will explore aligning commission seats with the neighborhoods that already exist — and if the community supports it, bring a charter amendment to the voters. The structure is already there. The commission just needs to catch up.
04
Real Management — Real Accountability
City government works best when commissioners give staff the clarity and support they need to do their jobs well. Administrative costs have grown without meaningful direction from the commission — and residents have been paying for it. Angel manages a team of 70 at FIU and knows that good outcomes start with good direction from the top. He’ll bring that same structured, accountable approach to the commission — making sure city staff are set up to succeed and that residents can see the results.
05
Govern for the People Who Live Here
Wilton Manors has a distinct, wonderful character — walkable streets, a strong sense of community, and residents who genuinely care about where they live. Angel will design policy and investment around the community that actually exists. That means listening to what residents want and responding to their priorities.
06
Honor the Mandate Voters Already Gave
In 2022, two-thirds of Wilton Manors voters approved term limits. That’s not a close call — that’s a mandate. New voices and new energy deserve a genuine chance to lead. Angel is running to make sure that vote meant something.
