Meet
Angel Burgos
When Angel and his husband David were drawn south from Washington D.C. — Angel was recruited to join Florida International University in Miami — South Florida opened its arms. But it was Wilton Manors that stole their hearts. They found themselves making the drive up from Miami again and again, drawn by the culture, the people, the unmistakable feeling of a community that had chosen itself. They found their home here. And they’ve never looked back.
“I know how to tap into that intrigue in others. I know what makes people fall in love with this city because I lived it. And I believe we can grow our tax base, fill the home next to you with a neighbor rather than a weekend tenant, and build a Wilton Manors that keeps pulling people in. There’s a ‘Why Wilton Manors’ story for all of us. And the more I’m able to hear yours, the better I’ll be at turning that into policy and priorities for the city we call home.“
Angel holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia University and spent time early in his career on Capitol Hill as an aide to U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman. He knows how government works — at the federal level and the local level — and he understands the difference between policy that sounds good and policy that actually delivers.
He is a graduate of Leadership Florida, the prestigious statewide program that cultivates civic leaders across sectors. Professionally, Angel oversees a staff of 70 as a senior administrator at Florida International University — bringing the kind of organizational discipline and management experience that city government rarely sees from its elected officials.
Angel has served as Board Chair of Island City Stage, Wilton Manors’ beloved theater company, and as Vice Chair of Funding Arts Broward and a Board Emeritus for Lambda Legal. He is not a newcomer to the work of building institutions that matter to this community. He has been doing it for years, quietly and without fanfare.
He is running for City Commissioner because he believes Wilton Manors is capable of so much more — and because the city he loves deserves leadership that reflects the full range of people who live here.

Angel & David
Angel and his husband, David Jobin, have been part of the fabric of Wilton Manors for over a decade — at fundraisers, board tables, neighborhood events, and opening nights. David is President and CEO of The Our Fund Foundation, a community foundation serving South Florida’s LGBTQ+ community, and has operated two businesses in Wilton Manors.
Together, they are well known throughout the city for their leadership and philanthropy — and for showing up, consistently, for the community they call home.

The Campaign Team
The rescue dogs who are very invested in the future of Wilton Manors’ parks.

Reggie
The fluffy one. Rescue. Opinionated about dog parks.

Jackson
The soulful one. Rescue. Campaigning since birth.

Mazie
The scrappy one. Rescue. Ready for change.
