Angel Burgos, a Wilton Manors resident, civic leader, and senior administrator at Florida International University, today announced his candidacy for Wilton Manors City Commissioner in the November 3, 2026 election.
Angel Burgos is running because Wilton Manors’ best days are ahead of it. Getting there requires leadership that is oriented toward the future — not focused on preserving the arrangements of the past.
Burgos will formally kick off his campaign with a community celebration on Monday, June 29, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Gray Box Theater, 1444 NE 26th Street, Wilton Manors. The event is open to residents, neighbors, and supporters. Commissioner Michael Bracchi and Vice Mayor Chris Caputo will attend and speak in support of Burgos. Burgos’ platform centers on three core priorities: hiring a dedicated Business Development Director whose job is to ensure that it is easier, faster, and less costly to open and run a business in Wilton Manors; ending the city’s development stagnation and getting Wilton Manors building again after more than a decade of standing still while neighboring cities grew; and honoring the mandate delivered by Wilton Manors voters in 2022, when two thirds approved term limits in a clear call for new voices and new energy in city leadership.

Burgos, a proud Wilton Manors resident since 2012, holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Columbia University and previously served as an aide to U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman. A Fulbright Scholar and Jacob Javits Fellowship recipient, he is a graduate of Leadership Florida and currently leads a team of 70 at Florida International University. He has served as a Board Member for Lambda Legal, Board Chair of Island City Stage, and Vice Chair of Funding Arts Broward. He is widely known in the community for his civic engagement and philanthropy alongside his husband, David Jobin, President and CEO of The Our Fund Foundation.
